DevOps Engineer

As a DevOps Engineer at Kalon, you will own the infrastructure and deployment pipelines behind the web platforms we build for our clients. You will work closely with our development teams to automate workflows and monitor applications so we find problems before our clients do. Your role protects the reliability our customers count on and is integral to maintaining strong relationships with them. AI helps us ship more code than ever, and you'll use those same tools to keep our infrastructure and observability one step ahead.

This is a part-time contract role, roughly 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • You'll stand up proactive monitoring and alerting with tools like New Relic or Datadog, so we catch issues before end users experience them
  • You'll define and maintain our Azure infrastructure as code
  • You'll build and improve CI/CD pipelines so teams can ship confidently and often
  • You'll help triage and resolve incidents, and make sure we learn something from each one
  • You'll collaborate with our development team to improve developer workflows
  • You'll participate in planning for future scalability and performance

Experience

Must Haves

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Azure (App Service, Azure SQL, Functions, storage, networking, and identity)
  • Experience defining infrastructure as code with Bicep, Terraform, or Pulumi
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Experience implementing application and infrastructure monitoring, dashboards, and alerting — ideally with New Relic, Datadog, or Application Insights
  • Comfortable scripting in PowerShell or Bash
  • Experience with secrets management and secure deployment practices
  • Familiarity with agentic workflows and AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot

Nice to Haves

  • Experience deploying and operating .NET applications
  • Experience with observability practice beyond tooling — SLOs, tracing, log aggregation
  • Experience with cloud cost monitoring and optimization
  • Experience with data platform tooling like Azure Data Factory or Microsoft Fabric
  • Experience supporting compliance requirements such as HIPAA or SOC 2

Location

Remote, open to candidates in Europe, North America, and South America. You can set your own schedule, we just we ask for a few hours of daily overlap with US Eastern business hours.
